Shengya Ocean World

Dalian Shengya Ocean World, located 608 Zhongshan Road, Shahekou District, inside Xinhai Park, has the longest transparent underground sea channel in Asia. A moving passageway guides tourists through the tunnel to get a close up look at exotic fishes, sharks and other sea life. The main display area has more than 300 species of fish totaling more than 10,000. There are coral reefs and floating sea grasses. Visitors can also see ferocious sharks, big-headed flying fish, colorful tropical fish, and many other rare species from around the world. A highlight is watching divers feed and interact with the sharks.

Charm of the Sea Square

“Charm of the Sea" Square covers an area of 380,000 square kilometers, with 30,000 square kilometers of decorated stone floors, 12,000 square kilometers of greenery, and many sculptures.

At the center of the Square is a large sculpture, consisting of five white steel pipes with differing curvatures. The sculpture is 19.9 meters high, commemorating the 100th anniversary of the founding of Dalian in September of 1999. Twenty-one flying seagulls symbolize the 21st century. Fifty balls, shaped like atoms with varying diameters, represent the 50th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. The sculpture resembles a flying dragon, thus the name “Charm of the Sea".

The square is constructed of crane cast steel, stainless steel and granite.  Standing 60 meters tall at the center of the square is a man made waterfall. The source of the waterfall is the Holy Axe garden. There is a totem garden, symbolizing the harmonious relationship between men nature.
