Holiday Beach near Qingling Road in the west of Haikou.It is a typical place of interest for touring and having leisure at the beach in Haikou.
The beach is 6 kilometers long. At its left, line the thriving Linma Huanglin trees. Holiday inns, hotels, restaurants and amusement centers can be found here and there. At its right, lies the beautiful Qiongzhou Strait. Ships can be seen shuttling to and from the seas.
Golden sunshine, blue seawater, yellow beach and green coconut trees constitute a great picture of the seashore. There are places for sunbathes, swimming, sea sports and restaurants for seafood too. Visitors can enjoy motorboats, surfing, windsurfing and sailing boats on the sea and they can play beach volleyball or skate on the beach. In the theater of Roman style, visitors can appreciate various kinds of shows, including the water ballet, diving, and peculiar singing and dancing from American or European performers. |
Mangrove Forest in Dongzhai Port

It is the first mangrove protection zone established by the government in the country.
Mangrove is a tropical evergreen trees or shrubs of the genus Rhizophora, having stilt-like roots and stems and forming dense thickets along tidal shores. There are about 81 kinds of mangroves in the world and among them about 41 can be found in Hainan province. The Mangrove Forest in Dongzhai Port is about 50 miles long, covering an area of about 4000 square kilometers. Some of the plants can reach 10 meters high.
Mangroves grow in the sea, with huge tree crowns and odd-shaped tree stems. Visitors can take a boat trip into the mangrove forest corridor and enjoy the fantastic green fairyland, which is known as “the Oasis of the sea”. The mangrove forest, the sun, the sea, the beach and the historic relic of Ming Dynasty constitutes a nice picture in the area.
Sine mangrove is a peculiar plant species in the world, research has been doing on it through out the world. The Association of the Research on Mangrove has been founded and every year, international seminars are held on the preservation and protection of mangrove. In the Mangrove Forest in Dongzhai Port, a diversity of 15 kinds of mangroves grows here and the forest is well preserved. So, the Mangrove Forest in Dongzhai Port is not only a good place of interest to visitors but also a place of scientific research to the scientists of home and abroad. |

Hainan Tropical Wildlife Garden

At the Dongshan lake front which is 27 kilometers from Haikou city, in Dongshan town, Qiongshan district, Haikou City. This is the first theme garden on tropical wildlife in China.
This is a ctually a tropical zoological garden which imitates the environment of the wild, covering total area of 1.3 square kilometers, in which visitors can take a look at various kinds of tropical animal in their relatively wild state. Altogether about 200 tropical wild animals are fed in the wild here in the garden including some of the rare species. For example, visitors may take a ride to watch the lion, the tiger, and the black bear in the wild state; may go to see the elephant, the giraffe, the crocodile, the hippo, the python, the lizard and the pony, and so on; may go to play with the monkeys and take a walk in the world of the tropical birds; may enjoy the performance of all kinds of tropical birds and animals. Visitors can also just enjoy themselves by the lake in the vocational area. There are several tropical canteens in the garden which provide peculiar tropical dishes to the visitors too. |

It is undeir the sea at the bay near the Dongzhai Port in Qiongshan district .This is a mysterious relic from a strong submarine earthquake, which is seldom found in the world if ever.
About 300 years ago, a strong submarine earthquake attacked the area, leaving 72 villages under the sea, and they are known as the Submarine Villages now. These villages are down there about 3 to 4 meters in the sea. In May or June, when the tides ebb away, visitors may take boat to the area and the relics are there right under the sea. Time brings a great change to the world, and these villages are still there, which will give you an impressive feeling of the power of the nature.
About 4 kilometers north to the Puqian Bay, 10 meters under the sea, there is a submarine village known as “Renchun Village”. Relics of village courtyards, family houses are dimly recognizable under the sea. A memorial archway also stands there in the sea, with fishes swimming around it, just like the scene described in the traditional myths of the Dragon Palace. There is a sea trench which is about 10 meters deep and 20 meters wide under the sea across the Dongzhai Port. To the east of the trench, there is a stone bridge, still lying across the sand track. Visitors can dive into the sea with the water lung and take a visit to these relics, either for relaxation or for exploration. It will be quite a memorable experience. |

The Five Ministers’ Temple

It is Between Haikou city and Fucheng, Qingshan.It is considered as the "first building of Haikou".
It is a very important scenic spot in Haikou, which is less than 5 kilometers away from the downtown area. In fact, it is a group of ancient buildings built in honor of the 5 noted ministers (Li Yude of Tang Dynasty, Li Gang, Li Guang, Zhao Ding and Hu Jing of Song Dynasty) in the history of Haikou.
The temple is made up of Guanjia Hall, Xuepu Hall, East Hall and West Hall, linking with Shugong Temple and Pubo Temple as a whole, covering a total area of 2800 square meters. The buildings were first built at Wanli Period of the Ming Dynasty; later, they were rebuilt in the 15th year of the Guangxu Emperor in Qing Dynasty (1889 AD). Its main body is a red pavilion of two floors, with white tile and red pillars, which is known as the “first building of Haikou”.
Shugong Temple, built in honor of Shushi (the great poet and politician of Song Dynasy), is at the east. This is a gardened court with lots of historic remains. The fountains, pavilions and balconies, all bear certain stories of Shushi.
To the left of the Shugong Temple, lies the Qiong Garden. This covers an area of 10 acres. There are historical remains about Shushi too, such as Fuli Hall, Liquan Pavilion, Xixin Room, and so on. Water of the Fuli Fountain is crystal clear, and it contains very little impurity. Tea made with the water is mellow and has great aftertaste. Therefore, this fountain is given the name as “the first fountain in Hainan”. |

It is at the Qingling Road, 6 kilometers from the downtown area.It is one of the eight most attractive scenic spots in Haikou.
The Xixiu Beach Park covers about 66700 square meters, with the coast line of 1200 meters long. The sea water here is of the standard of the national II level with a hot spring of 49.5 C. Every year, around 300 swimming athletes come here to have their winter training for about 4-5 months. So far, the Beach has become an international sailing training base, an international yacht club and a Chinese Lido, which is a good place for the visitors to enjoy every possible in the sea. |

Hairui Tomb is in the Binya Village, in the west suburbs of Haikou. It is a historical and cultural relic under state protection.
Hairui,?1514?1587??also known Ruxian, or Gangfeng, was a uncorrupted minister in the Ming Dynasty. He was born in Qingshan and was assigned to the County of Chunan and Xingguo to be the governor. He was a man of justice and helped the common people to get the right. He fought against a lot of corrupted officials of the time and was considered to be the most upright of his time. When he died at his 70s, his coffin was taken back to his hometown to burry. A pavilion and a temple were built over the tomb to honor him by the local people. Later the Tomb of Hairui has become a popular place for the visitors too.
The constructions of the tomb buidings are majestic. A memorial archway stands right at the front of the gate, with the words of “Justice of Hainan” engraved on it. Path to the tomb is making of granite and is of 100 meters long. Stones with the shapes of man, goat, horse, lion and tortoise stand at each side of the path. There are other three archways along the path too. |

It is 15 kilometer from Haikou in the Shishan Town. A natural volcano geology museum .
The eruption of the ancient Qiongbei Volcano left the most intact volcano craters here. According to geologists, the last eruption happened about 13,000 year ago. And now, 36 relics of the craters can be seen here. Among them the highest one is the Saddle Hill which is about 222.8 meters up.
Today, the park has the volcano cultural garden, ecological garden, the green corridor, and the crater’s garden, attracting visitors from both home and abroad. Visitors can also enjoy the rustic flavor of the local people, try the country house food, and purchase the local handiworks too. |

It lies on the West Coast of Haikou.It is the first tropical ocean theme park founded in China, with the total area of 538 acres and the investment of 8 billion.
The great Merry Ocean will impress visitors at the first sight upon entering the park. It is about 20,000 square meters, surrounded by various statues of ocean creatures and colorful fountains. One part of the Merry Ocean is set up as the home to some 30,000 colorful tropical fish, which draws crowds of visitors every day.
There are two peculiar entertaining items in the park. One is the Laser Water Screen Movie, and the other is the Pirate Ship and the Treasure Island. The Pirate Ship is of the shape of the 19th century European sailing ship, equipped with model guns, cannons and modern sound effects, which can be used to simulate a mini ancient war.
There is an amusement park in which visitors can enjoy themselves with items like Bungee Jumping, sliding board, shaking board, manual railcars and shooting games. An item called Flying Man is really exciting and challenging, in which a man will be thrown into the air and swing like a pendulum. Besides, there is a restaurant, a theater, a “spatial-temporal tube” and a “dream house”. All can bring visitors great fun.
To the west of the Merry Ocean, there is a 350-meter Drifting River. On the river, visitors can experience the interesting “ancient tribe”, “fancy space cave”, “great waterfall” and “dangerous shoal”. It is a good place to have fun and excitement.
There is a tropical rain forest area in the park too, which is divided into four gardens. In the Tropical Tree Garden, visitors can appreciate lots of rare tropical trees; and in the Tropical Flower Garden, tropical flowers are on shown. The Tropical Fruit Garden is where visitor can see and can even taste all kinds of tropical fruits; and the Tropical Rain Forest Garden is where visitor can stroll and take a good rest.
The most impressive building in the park is the Millennium Tower, which is 131.101 meters high, with beautiful air garden and sightseeing platform.
Besides these, the Ocean Flavor Village, the Oceanic Park, the Shell Museum and the Shark House are worth visiting too. |
