Explore the mixture of east and west in Central District on Hong
Kong Island by walking through the most interesting parts - the mixture
of old colonial buildings and high-tech towers, hawker stalls and
French restaurants, typical Chinese homes and the housing of the foreigners
- fascinating! We meet at 15.00H at the Star Ferry Pier on Kowloon
side or at 15.20H at the Renaissance Harbour View Hotel on Hong Kong
Island side (please check the time/place with your guide in Hong Kong).
The first visit is Central Plaza Sky Lobby on 46th floor or the 43th
floor of Bank of China (subject to availability) - from here you have
a breathtaking view on the skyscrapers around you and the harbour.
We walk on to Johnston Road and take the tramway to the Central Market
where you can see typical Chinese food - fish, meat, fruit and vegetables.
Afterwards we take the Hillside Escalator Link which is an 800 M moving
walkway linking Central and the Mid-levels. We walk along the Caine
Road where a lot of upper-class houses and schools are located. Down
steeply on Ladder Street we come to the Man Mo Temple, the oldest
temples in HongKong. In Hollywood Road you can see a lot of Chinese
antique shops. We proceed to Lan Kwai Fong, an area of trendy restaurants
and nightspots. The tour ends around 18.15H at the MTR station in
Central or, if you wish to take a drink in Lan Kwai Fong it ends there.
Remarks: Please make sure to wear comfortable shoes. Please note that
visit Central Plaza Sky Lobby will be subject to change as the rules
of "Open for Public" change from time to time. If cannot
stop we will go to 43th floor of Bank of China instead.
